Watch a Twitch stream right next to its chat.

• Watch a Twitch stream beside its chatRight-click a tab and choose Watch stream to play the channel's stream left of the chat. Drag the divider to size it, and pick a quality from the gear in the player.
• Streams wait quietly in other tabsWhen you switch tabs, the stream keeps going muted at its lowest quality, and gets its sound and quality back when you return, without reloading or another ad.

• Shared chat pictures only on partner messagesIn a shared chat, messages from the channel you are watching no longer show that channel's picture. Only messages from the other channels in the session do.

Chat in SOOP, with SOOP's own badges and balloon pictures.

Added

• Chat in SOOPSign in to SOOP under Accounts to send messages in SOOP channels. It opens SOOP's own sign-in page, so your password goes only to SOOP. Messages are plain text up to 128 characters; replies and commands stay on Twitch and Kick. SOOP doesn't offer sign-in to other apps, so this may stop working if SOOP changes its site.

• SOOP badges and balloons look like SOOP'sChatters show SOOP's own grade badge: F for the fan club, T for top fans, M for managers, S for supporters and the streamer's mark, one each as on SOOP. Star balloons show their picture, stand out with a blue rail, and say when someone joined the fan club or became a top fan with them.
• Shared chat picturesIn a shared chat, the partner channel's picture next to each of its messages is now square, and hovering it shows it large with who the message came from.

• Balloons in relayed SOOP roomsStar balloons sent in a relayed room now show who sent them and how many.

• Raids are hard to missWhen a channel raids someone, the banner over its chat is now taller and purple, with the raided channel's picture, larger names and a button to follow the raid to their chat.

• Faster startChannels open signed in right away instead of waiting for Sidechat to recheck your account with Twitch and Kick, so live status shows up sooner. Recent chat history now loads as each Twitch channel opens rather than after it finishes connecting.

Choose how chat labels look, spot who came with a raid, and read tidier rows.

• Label stylesA new Labels section under Settings → Chat sets how suspicious users, first-time chatters, announcements and held messages are marked: on a line of their own above the message, as a small tag before the name, or not at all.
• RaidersChatters who first speak just after a raid get a Raider tag saying whose raid they probably came with, for 5 minutes by default. It's a guess, since Twitch and Kick don't say who a raid brought, so someone who lurked before the raid and speaks up after it gets the tag too.

• Reasons on their own lineA timeout or ban's reason now sits on the line under it, lined up with the name, so the action and who took it stay easy to spot.
• Tidier chat rowsTimestamps line up in one column whatever the row, a sub's message and a gift's recipients sit under the name instead of back at the edge, and label icons sit just before the text. Only held messages, unban requests and suspicious users keep a tinted background; subs, announcements, first-time chatters and moderation rows keep just their coloured edge.
• Easier to readReply context above a message is brighter, and a hidden deleted message reads "message deleted" in italics.

• Still emotes use the same imageWhen emotes aren't animating, Sidechat now holds the animated image on its first frame instead of downloading a second, still copy. Hovering an emote to animate it starts right away, and each emote is fetched once.

• Ticks in on/off menu itemsSwitches in right-click and header menus, like "Notify when live" or Emote only, showed a filled box with no tick when on. The tick is back.
• Kick default avatarsKick accounts without a profile picture showed a broken image in Settings instead of Kick's default avatar.
• All of a channel's emotes you ownThe emote picker now shows every emote you can use from the channel you're in, including sub emotes from a subscription Sidechat hadn't picked up yet, not only its follower emotes.

• Twitch chats open faster againOpening a Twitch channel while signed in could take a few seconds before chat started, while Sidechat stopped following the channel you were looking at before. The new chat now connects first.

Added

• Only live tabsA new option under Settings → Layout hides the tabs of channels that are offline. They wait in an "offline" menu at the end of the tabs and come back on their own when the channel goes live. The tab you're on always stays, and Ctrl+K still finds every tab. Twitch channels are only hidden while you're signed in to Twitch, since Sidechat can't tell who's live without an account.

• Quieter joins and leavesWho joined or left a chat is now plain dimmed text, without the coloured bar and background, so it stays out of the way of the conversation.

Fixed

• Clearing Activity right after launch sticksOn Windows, clearing your Activity history while Sidechat was still loading it could leave the old events saved, and they came back the next time you opened the app.

• Sidechat opens soonerThe window no longer waits for your saved Activity history to load, which took a tenth of a second or more for a busy channel. Sidechat also starts a little faster in general, and stays quick after it was ended without closing, such as when Windows shuts down.
• Settings opens soonerThe page you open shows first and the others load just after, so Settings no longer draws every page before showing anything.

Fixed

• Emotes in your own messages show at onceTwitch emotes you send, like Kappa or a channel's sub emotes, used to appear as words for a moment until Twitch's copy of the message arrived. They now show as emotes straight away.

• Chat modes beside the mod buttonsWith the status bar header, the chat modes button now sits with the moderation mode and viewer list buttons instead of in the stats line.
• Pick how long for slow and followers-onlyThe chat modes menu lets you choose slow mode's wait, from 3 seconds to 2 minutes, and how long someone must have followed for followers-only chat, from any follower up to 3 months. Before, they only switched on at Twitch's defaults.

• Highlight rules as a tableEach highlight rule is one line, with columns for how it matches, Mentions, sound, flash, notify and its unread badge colour. Your own name sits at the top, and its alerts are the same ones as under Alerts.
• Trying a messageThe test box under your rules is always there. It shows the message as a chat line with the matching words marked, says which rule caught it and what that rule does, and marks that rule in the table.
• Alerts that can't go offIf a rule plays a sound or notifies but that alert is switched off under Alerts, Highlights now says so, with a button to Alerts.

• Subs paid in advanceA Twitch sub bought for several months at once now says so in chat, like "subscribed at Tier 3 for 6 months in advance", as it does on Twitch.
• Clearer User card settingsThe page shows a sample card that changes as you turn rows on and off, and groups them into what's on the card, links to other sites, and what happens when a card opens. Each row says whether it works on Twitch, Kick or both, and if one needs something you haven't set up, like the Twitch web login, it says so with a button to Accounts.

Mod tools in streamer mode, favourite emotes, switching accounts from the message box, and a clearer Accounts page.

• Mod tools in streamer modeThe streamer toolbar has a Mod tools button for your Twitch channel, so shield mode, AutoMod, blocked terms, banned users and unban requests are one click away without switching to a single-channel chat. Waiting unban requests show as a count, and shield mode shows as a red chip while it's on.
• Switch account and name colour from the message boxClick the Twitch logo beside a Twitch chat's message box to pick which of your saved Twitch accounts sends, add another, or change your name colour, like Twitch's chat identity card.
• Favourite emotesPin an emote in the picker with the pin beside its name, or right-click it. Favourites sit at the top of every tab, in any channel where you can use them.

• Plainer menu labelsMenu items and buttons that open a window, like "AutoMod settings" or "Clip earlier", no longer end in "…".
• Darker dark modeBackgrounds, panels and lines are a step darker and text a touch brighter, for more contrast.
• Clearer AutoMod settingsThe overall level is named (Off, Some, More, Even more, Most) instead of numbered, and each category sits under a "By category" section whose sliders show their five steps. Save and Cancel stay in view while you scroll.
• Tidier mod listsBanned users, unban requests and blocked terms show who was banned or timed out at a glance, how long ago, and how long a timeout has left. Unban requests set the person's own words apart from your reply, and Pending shows how many are waiting.
• Recent emotes on every tabThe emotes you use most in a channel now lead every tab of the picker, instead of having a tab of their own.
• Twitch globals lastThe Twitch tab lists the channel's emotes, then your other channels', then Prime and the like, with Twitch's global emotes at the bottom.
• Clearer Accounts pageYour active account is now listed first, and accounts show their Twitch or Kick profile pictures. Your Twitch name colour sits under the active account as a section you can fold open, showing your current colour. A custom colour shows as a selected swatch, and that swatch opens a colour picker like Twitch's, with a colour area, a hue slider, the hex code and a preview of your name as Sidechat shows it. The Turbo or Prime requirement shows before you pick.
• Switching and removing accountsAccount names are bold, with a green tick on the active one. Saved accounts say they're still signed in and switch with one click, the trash button asks before signing an account out, and adding another account is a quiet row at the end of the list.
• No Kick app setup in SettingsKick sign-in has used Sidechat's own app for a while, so the setup form for a personal Kick app is gone. If you set one up before, it keeps working.

Fixed

• Joins and leaves stay quietWho joined or left no longer marks a tab unread, and leaves out people you ignore or have blocked.
• Redemptions settled elsewhereFulfilling or refunding redemptions that another moderator already handled clears them from the queue straight away.
• Repeat subs and cheers in ActivityTwo identical subs, gifts or cheers close together no longer show as one.
• Safer clip downloadsClips only download from Twitch over a secure connection, stop if the file is far larger than a clip, and never get a name Windows can't save.
• Emote picker explains missing Twitch emotesIf the Twitch tab shows only the channel's and Twitch's global emotes, the picker now says why: your sign-in is from before the picker and needs one more permission (with an Update permissions button), or Twitch didn't answer (with Retry). Once fixed, it shows the emotes from every channel you're subscribed to, the current channel's first.

Much more of Twitch without leaving Sidechat: whisper conversations, an emote picker, a Rewards panel with a redemption queue, and mod tools for shield mode, AutoMod, bans and unban requests.

• Joins and leavesTurn on Settings → Chat → Joins and leaves to see who joins and leaves a Twitch chat, gathered into rows every couple of seconds. Twitch only reports this for chats under about 1,000 chatters. Off by default.
• Whisper conversationsThe Whispers inbox lists one conversation per person, with a reply box on the open one. Send from any Twitch chat with /w, or with Whisper on someone's user card.
• Emote pickerThe smiley beside the message box opens every emote you can use here, by source, with one search over them all. Recent emotes come first.
• Your emotes everywhereSub, follower and other emotes you've unlocked on Twitch now show in the picker and in : autocomplete, in any Twitch chat.
• Name colourChange your Twitch name colour with /color, or from the swatches on your Twitch account in Accounts.
• Block on TwitchBlock or unblock someone from their user card, or with /block and /unblock. People you've blocked are hidden in Twitch chats, and Settings → Ignores lists them with Unblock.
• Shared chatWhen a channel shares its chat, the pane header names the channels in it. Click to open one.
• Raids you can followWhen the channel you're watching raids, a bar says where to and offers to open that channel's chat.
• Every sub in ActivityWith streamer features on, subs that never show up in chat (and subs while your own chat isn't open) now appear in Activity too, with their tier and exact gift counts. A sub that chat announces still shows once.
• Sub endedActivity can show subs to your channel running out, gifted ones marked as such. They stay out of All; pick the Sub ended chip to see them.
• Power-ups in ActivityBits spent on Power-ups show under Bits: gigantified emotes, message effects, on-screen celebrations and custom Power-ups, with how many Bits each took. They count toward the stream summary's Bits too.
• Automatic rewards in ActivityChannel point redemptions like Highlight my message and the sub emote unlocks show next to your custom rewards, with the emote they unlocked.
• Hype train on startupA hype train already running when Sidechat starts, or when you turn on streamer features, shows in the alert bar right away instead of at its next contribution. The bar also names Golden Kappa and Treasure trains, the channels sharing a train, and your record level.
• Content labelsThe stream editor shows Twitch's content classification labels as checkboxes, with Branded content next to them. The mature game label follows your category, so it shows but can't be changed. Presets remember your labels too.
• Clip earlierControls has a Clip earlier button: pick how long ago (30 seconds to 10 minutes, or your own number of minutes), a length from 5 to 60 seconds and a title, and Twitch cuts the clip from your stream's recording. Store past broadcasts needs to be on in Twitch.
• Download clipsClips you make, from chat or Controls, have a Download button next to Open. Sidechat waits for Twitch to finish the clip, asks where to save it and shows the progress. Pick Portrait when Twitch has a portrait version. On someone else's channel it only shows if you're one of their editors.
• Test a message in AutoModAutoMod settings for your own channel has a box to check whether AutoMod would allow or hold a message.
• Rewards panelStreamer mode has a new Rewards panel for your Twitch channel's channel point rewards. Add it from Edit layout once streamer features are on.
• Redemption queueThe Rewards panel's Queue lists redemptions waiting on you, newest first, as they come in: the reward, its cost, who redeemed it and what they typed. Fulfill or refund each one, or tick several and do them at once. Pick a reward to see only its redemptions. A name opens the user card.
• Manage rewardsCreate channel point rewards from the Rewards tab and change their title, cost, description, colour, limits per stream and per viewer, cooldown and whether viewers type a message or skip the queue. Pause, disable or delete them in a click. Twitch only lets Sidechat change rewards it made, so ones made on Twitch show read-only with a link to edit them there, and their redemptions can't be fulfilled or refunded here. Update Twitch permissions in Accounts when asked.
• Mod tools menuTwitch channels you moderate get a wrench in the pane header with shield mode, AutoMod settings, blocked terms, banned users and unban requests in one place. A red count on it shows unban requests waiting. Blocked terms moved here from their own shield button.
• Shield modeTurn shield mode on from the Mod tools menu, after a quick confirm. While it's on, a red Shield mode chip sits in the header; click it to turn it off.
• AutoMod settingsSet AutoMod's overall level, from Off to 4, or give each category its own level under Advanced.
• Banned usersSee everyone banned or timed out, search them, and unban or end a timeout from the list. Twitch may keep this list to the broadcaster; if so, Sidechat says so.
• Unban requestsApprove or deny requests to be unbanned, with an optional reply, and look back at ones already approved or denied.
• Unban requests in chatA new unban request shows in the chat of a Twitch channel you moderate, with what they wrote and Approve and Deny buttons. Either can carry a reply. Once you or another moderator answers, the row says who approved or denied it.
• Suspicious usersMessages from chatters Twitch monitors, restricts or thinks are ban evaders get a label in channels you moderate. A restricted chatter's messages, which only moderators see, show greyed. Their user card shows the status, and Monitor, Restrict and Remove change it.
• Shield mode, warnings and shoutouts in chatIn the Twitch channel you're looking at, chat now says when a moderator turns shield mode on or off, changes AutoMod settings or gives a shoutout, when the channel gets one, and when someone acknowledges their warning. The moderation events setting hides these like other moderator rows.
• Shoutouts in ActivityShoutouts your own channel receives show in the Activity feed, with the viewers the other stream had.

• Updates are checked at startupSidechat now looks for an update as soon as it opens, instead of waiting 15 seconds.
• Electron 44.4.5Sidechat runs on the latest Electron 44 release, with its Chromium security fixes.
• New Twitch permissionsWhispers, name colour, your emotes, blocking, clips, AutoMod, shield mode, unban requests, suspicious users and channel point rewards need new Twitch permissions. Accounts asks you to update them.
• Instant stream changesThe channel you're looking at updates its title, category and live status the moment they change, instead of within a minute.

• Your Kick name in Streamer modeWhen you choose where a message goes, your own Kick channel now shows your name as Kick has it (like my_name), not its link form (my-name).
• Tab names for screen readersCompact and side tabs are read out by the channel's name alone. Before, the name started with the avatar's placeholder letter or "Offline".

• Right-click menus in busy chatsA message's menu stays open while new messages keep arriving. It used to close each time chat scrolled, so you had to pause chat to use it. Scrolling yourself still closes it.

Review what AutoMod holds in every channel from one place.

Added

• AutoMod tabOpen AutoMod from the new tab page or Ctrl+T to see the messages AutoMod held in every Twitch channel you moderate, in one list, with Approve and Deny on each. The tab counts what's still waiting, and "Waiting only" hides what's been settled. Held messages stay listed after a busy chat scrolls past them.
• AutoMod panel in Streamer modeAdd an AutoMod panel to review what's held in your own channels next to chat and Activity.

Sidechat has its own icon.

• A Sidechat iconThe app, its installer, the taskbar and the Mac dock now show Sidechat's own logo, the one on the download page, instead of Electron's. It also sits in the title bar and on the welcome screen.

Fixed

• Typing straight after Ctrl+FChat search now takes focus the moment it opens, so letters typed right away go into the search and none are lost.

Sidechat now reads four platforms side by side: Twitch, Kick, YouTube and SOOP. This release also points out who's chatting in a channel for the first time.

• First-time chattersA Twitch chatter's first message in a channel now has a "First Time Chatter" label and a pink edge, signed in or not. Turn it off under Settings → Chat → Messages.

Reply threads can open in a window of their own.

Added

• Threads in their own windowTurn on Settings › Chat › Threads in their own window, and opening a reply thread pops it out instead of docking it over the message box. It keeps up with new replies and has its own message box: you answer the thread, or a reply in it you pick.

Review the messages AutoMod holds without leaving Sidechat.

Added

• AutoMod in chatIn Twitch channels you moderate, each message AutoMod holds shows in chat, with why it was held, such as "Hostility, level 3" or a blocked term. Approve lets it into the chat and Deny throws it out. The row then says who decided, even when they used Twitch itself.
• Held message countThe pane header shows how many held messages are waiting. Click it to jump to the oldest.
• Your own held messagesIf AutoMod holds a message you send, it stays in chat marked as waiting instead of showing an error. It then says whether a moderator approved it, denied it, or the hold ran out.

• New Twitch permissionApproving and denying held messages needs one more permission. If you moderate, Accounts asks you to update permissions.

Tabs that stay on one row, however many channels you have open.

• Compact tabsTabs are now flat and slim, each led by the channel's picture with a red dot while it's live. Offline channels are greyed out and the tab you're on is underlined. If you were using the old pills that wrap onto more rows, you're moved over once; switch back any time in Settings > Layout.
• More menuTabs that don't fit on the row go under a "more" menu, grouped into Live and Offline with viewer counts and mentions. The tab you're on always stays in view, and Mentions, new tab and reopen stay right after the tabs.
• Smaller pillsThe Pills style is slimmer, marks live channels with a dot, and only shows the close button when you hover a tab, so tabs sit evenly spaced.
• Channel pictures in the sidebarSidebar tabs show each channel's picture, and sorting live first splits them under Live and Offline headings.

Moderation mode stays on.

• Moderation mode rememberedTurning on moderation mode in a chat now lasts through restarts. It's kept per channel, so it only comes back on in the chats where you left it on.

Long stream titles no longer cover the channel name.

• Channel name hidden by a long titleWith the pane header centred, a long stream title could draw over the channel name. The name and buttons now keep their space and the title is shortened with "…" between them.

Read SOOP chat, no account needed.

• SOOP chatOpen SOOP (formerly AfreecaTV) channels next to Twitch and Kick: paste a play.sooplive.com or station link (old afreecatv.com and sooplive.co.kr links work too), type soop/name, or pick "Open on SOOP" in the channel search. Chat shows SOOP's name colours, badges, emoticons and stickers.
• SOOP donations and subscriptionsStar, ad and video balloons and subscriptions show in chat and in Activity; mutes and kicks show as moderation notices.
• Waits for the streamSOOP only opens chat while a channel is live, so an offline channel waits and joins as soon as the stream starts.

Read YouTube live chat alongside Twitch and Kick.

Added

• YouTube live chatOpen a YouTube channel by its handle: type @handle, paste a youtube.com/@handle link, or pick YouTube in the channel search. No account needed. Chat opens with the messages already there, and a channel that isn't live says so and joins when its stream starts.
• Super Chats and membershipsSuper Chats, Super Stickers, new members, membership milestones and gifted memberships show in chat and in Activity. Gifted memberships fold into the gifter's row.
• YouTube badges and emojiOwner, moderator, verified and member badges (with the channel's own member art), and the channel's custom emoji. Pinned messages show above chat, and removed messages grey out.
• Reading only, for nowSending, moderation and polls aren't supported for YouTube yet, and Streamer mode doesn't include it. YouTube can change how its chat is read at any time.

Sidechat notices when you go live.

• Go-live nudgeGoing live while you're in Chatter mode now brings up a line offering Streamer mode, with your chat from every platform and your activity feed. Not now waits for your next stream; the close button stops it for good.

Darker emote suggestions.

Reply threads open right in chat, as on Twitch.

• Open a reply threadClick the "replying to" line over a reply, or its Open thread button, to see the whole conversation docked above the message box: the message that started it, then every reply. Your next message answers the thread until you close it.

• Replies in chat historyReplies loaded with a channel's history, and replies seen while signed out, now show what they answered instead of a bare @name.

Every emote that matches, not just the first eight.

• More emote suggestionsTyping : now lists up to 50 matching emotes in a scrolling list, with a count at the top, so channels with dozens of emotes sharing a prefix show them all.

Sidechat now runs on Mac.

• Sidechat for Mac, for Apple silicon (M1 and newer) and Intel Macs. Download the disk image, drag Sidechat into Applications, and on the first launch choose Open Anyway in System Settings → Privacy & Security.
• On a Mac, Sidechat tells you when a new version is out; Download opens its release page. On Windows, updates still install themselves.
• ⌘W closes the chat tab on a Mac, as Ctrl+W does on Windows.

Streamer mode becomes a dashboard for running your own stream, and Kick moderation gets fixes.

• Streamer mode's Activity feed shows each sub, resub, gift, raid, Kick host and watch streak as its own row: a coloured label, who, and details like "18 mo", "Tier 1" or "214 raiders", with the viewer's message and emotes underneath. Gift bombs are one row; click "5 recipients" to see who got them.
• Filter the feed to subs, gifts, raids, streaks or other events, and to one channel. An "Earlier" line marks where the events you have already seen begin.
• Activity for your own channels is kept for 30 days, so it is still there after you restart Sidechat. Scroll down for older events.
• Click a name for their user card, or use a row's … menu to copy the name, open the channel or shout out a Twitch raider.
• Open the feed in its own window from the button in its header, to keep it on a second screen.

• Edit streams changes your title, category and tags on Twitch and Kick side by side. Search categories as you type, pick a recent one, or match the other stream's category in one click. Save one stream or all of them, and keep a set you use often as a preset.
• Streamer features are opt-in: "Allow streamer features" asks Twitch or Kick for those permissions only when you want them. On Twitch that covers editing your stream, follows, redemptions, hype trains, ads and clips.
• Arrange Streamer mode your way. Layout → Edit layout lets you drag panels to any side of another, add a chat for one channel, a second Activity feed or your Mentions, and remove what you don't use. Drag the lines between panels to resize them.
• Lock the layout so nothing moves mid-stream, and save arrangements as profiles to switch between. Share a profile as a file or as text, and import one someone sent you.
• Each Activity panel keeps its own filter and pops out on its own.
• Follows, channel point redemptions, hype trains and ad breaks on your own Twitch channel show in Activity, and cheers in any channel you have open. Follows from while Sidechat was closed are caught up when it starts.
• A bar under your stream cards counts down an ad break, shows when the next ad is due with a Snooze button, and follows a hype train's level.
• "This stream" adds up the subs, gifts, bits, follows and raids since you went live.
• Controlsin the Streamer toolbar run an ad, a marker, a clip or a raid in one click. Configure your own, like "/marker Break" followed by a message to chat.

• Timeouts, bans, chat clears and room mode changes appear in chat. Moderators also see who acted and why, plus unbans, VIP and mod changes, blocked terms, unban requests and warnings. Settings → Chat appearance can hide them.

• A diagnostic log for errors and connection trouble. Settings → Updates → Open log folder finds it; sign-in tokens are left out, so it can be attached to bug reports.
